The March Edit
6 new releases in March that I'm adding to my stack
Hi book lovelies,
March is right around the corner. I love March. Not only is it my birthday month, but it’s also a huge birthday month in my family - my dad, my daughter, my nephew, and my brother’s girlfriend. March is also the start of spring, which brings the promise of flowers. It’s the month of shedding our winter woes, coming out of hibernation, and eagerly awaiting all that spring has to offer. This year, March is also bringing a nice batch of new releases our way. Here are six that I’m adding to my stack.
Once and Again by Rebecca Serle, March 10
My first introduction to Rebecca Serle was almost a year ago when I read One Italian Summer. I went into that book thinking it was going to be a light beachy read, but it was so much more than that. I really fell in love with the book, and I’m looking forward to picking up another book from Rebecca. This novel follows the women of the Novak family, who are each born with a gift: they can, just once, turn back time. I love how Serle played with time in One Italian Summer; she did it in an interesting and uncheesy way, so I’m eager to see how this novel plays out.
A Far-Flung Life by M.L. Stedman, March 3
Similar to The River is Waiting, A Far-Flung Life also follows a family after a tragic accident as they begin to pick up the pieces and move forward with their lives. I’ve been gravitating to these types of novels recently, where being human is at the forefront.
Everyone in this Bank is a Thief by Benjamin Stevenson, March 17
This is the fourth book in the Ernest Cunningham series. Bank heist meets locked room murder mystery? Of course I’m picking it up.
The News From Dublin: Stories by Colm Tóibín, March 31
I saw Colm Tóibín speak last year when he came to town. I left the talk buzzing and wanting to read more of his work. The News From Dublin comprises nine short stories. I don’t read short story collections often, but I love his writing, and I’m feeling compelled to pick them up. I will definitely be adding this one to my list.
Shut Up and Read: A Memoir from Harriet’s Bookshop by Jeannine A. Cook, March 10
I love a good memoir, especially one that isn’t a celebrity memoir. I also love books, as you know. So a memoir about a woman opening and running a bookshop is right up my alley. I’m looking forward to reading this one, but hopefully it doesn’t convince me to quit my job and open my own bookshop.
Service Ready: A Story of Love, Restaurants, and the Power of Hospitality by Molly Irani, March 24
My husband is a restaurant owner. My maternal grandparents were restaurant owners. And my in-laws were restaurant owners. When I was a kid, and still even now, I romanticize restaurants. I’m happiest when I’m at a great restaurant, with great food, great wine, great service, and great company. Nothing beats it. Molly Irani is cofounder of the James Beard Award-winning restaurant Chai Pani. In this book, she shares her story of opening and growing her restaurant, coupled with reflections on her upbringing and her journey of getting to where she is now.
Let me know which books coming out in March you’re excited about. Leave a comment, convince me to read it, and maybe I will!
Happy reading!
Your smitten bookworm,
Emily
